Steinfeld Gallery is pleased to announce Laundry Today; Naked Tomorrow. The old proverb is blunt: skip the washing and face tomorrow exposed. Artists might consider laundry as the stand-in for all repetitive, invisible labor: the tasks that structure our days, the routines that tether us, the domestic cycles that are never finished and rarely seen. Work could explore the psychology of the mundane: the comfort or tyranny of ritual, the meditative rhythm of folding, the weight of what accumulates when we look away. Cloth itself is a second skin, holding stains, mending, and memory, and the clothesline has always doubled as public confession, where private life hangs out for the neighbors to read.

The title also poses a question about consequence itself. If the task goes undone today, what actually arrives tomorrow? The proverb threatens the worst case, nakedness, exposure, reckoning, but is that the only outcome? Deferral can mean crisis, or it can mean liberation, improvisation, a day spent unburdened, or simply another pile waiting. Artists are invited to interpret this tension across any register: the personal (procrastination, avoidance, self-care), the collective (deferred maintenance of relationships, communities, climate), or the absurd (what does one wear to a naked tomorrow?). All media welcome, humor, dread, tenderness, and defiance are equally at home under this title.
