Steinfeld Gallery is pleased to announce
SUTURED REALITY
Steinfeld Gallery is pleased to announce Sutured Reality, an exhibition that invites artists to explore the seams, the places where separate things are forcibly joined, repaired, or held together. A suture is both a medical act of healing and a visible scar; it closes a wound without erasing it. The title asks: what realities have been stitched together, and what do the stitches reveal?
A suture implies both damage and the will to hold together, and this exhibition seeks work that lives in that tension. Artists might consider the act of repair itself, the mend that remains visible, the fix that becomes the subject rather than something to conceal. They might turn to the body as a site where trauma is closed but permanently recorded, or to perception itself: the sense that contemporary reality is an assembly of mismatched fragments, manipulated images, reconstructed memories, and competing truths held together by increasingly fragile thread. Others may find the theme in social and cultural seams: borders, hybrid identities, communities stitched back together after rupture, and the scar tissue that forms where things once came apart. Whatever the approach, the through-line is the mark of the join, work that sits between pristine wholeness and pure rupture, where the evidence of joining, breaking, and holding is allowed to show.
